We spent an afternoon mapping out which OLED panels make sense for a two-bedroom apartment with limited wall depth and strong afternoon glare. The discussion covered mounting height for a 55-inch living room display, whether a transparent kitchen panel is worth the brightness tradeoff, and how to route cabling without cutting into a rental wall. This post captures the decisions we made, the measurements we took, and the questions we still need to answer before ordering hardware.

After installing a 65-inch OLED in a client's media room, we tracked daily usage patterns for seven days: which inputs were used most, how often the ambient mode ran, and whether the auto-brightness setting held up during evening viewing. The panel handled mixed content well, but we noticed a few quirks with the smart home integration that required firmware tweaks. This write-up covers the setup timeline, the calibration choices we made, and what we would do differently on the next install.

Our first impressions of a new transparent OLED panel were positive, but a month of real use changed several conclusions. The panel's color accuracy shifted after the first 200 hours, and the anti-reflective coating performed better than expected in a bright kitchen. We also revised our recommendation on viewing distance after testing the panel from different seating positions. This follow-up post documents those changes and explains what we now look for when evaluating transparent displays for residential use.
