When the delivery crew unboxed the 65-inch OLED panel in our test living room, the first thing we noticed was not the picture quality. It was the weight. This is where OLED earns its place in an open-plan layout, not in a dedicated dark home theater room.

The energy consumption figures surprised us in a good way. Running the panel for six hours a day with moderate brightness settings added roughly eleven kilowatt-hours over the week. That is less than the older LED television it replaced, despite the larger screen area. The difference comes from the panel's ability to dim individual pixels, so dark scenes draw almost no power at all.

One tradeoff became clear by Friday. The built-in smart platform, while responsive, pushes content recommendations that do not match our viewing habits. We ended up using an external streaming stick for most content and treating the panel's operating system as a secondary option. It is not a dealbreaker, but it is a consideration if you prefer a single remote and a unified interface.

The weekend brought the first real family viewing session, and this is where the panel's motion handling stood out. Fast-paced sports and action sequences stayed smooth without the soap opera effect that plagues some competing technologies. The default motion smoothing setting was already well balanced, which saved us from digging through the settings menu during halftime.

After seven days, the verdict is straightforward. This panel works best in a bright, open living space where viewing angles vary and ambient light changes throughout the day. It is not the cheapest option on the market, but the combination of off-angle performance, energy efficiency, and natural color reproduction justifies the premium for most households. The first week taught us that the right settings matter as much as the hardware itself, and that a few minutes of adjustment can transform the experience from good to genuinely enjoyable.
